Rishi Kapoor Says “I Regret It” on Buying Award for 30,000 Rupees

Rishi Kapoor said that he regrets the decision of buying the “Best Actor” award. In his recently launched autobiography, “Khullam Khulla”, he has confessed about buying the award for 30,000 rupees.

In an interview with Rajdeep Sardesai on India Today, when he was asked about the “Filmfare Award” being bought by him, Rishi Kapoor said: “No no no… I have not said any names… I just said I bought an award for Bobby”.

When reminded by Rajdeep that when he won the Best Actor award for his performance in Bobby, Amitabh Bachchan was also in competition for the award for his role in “Zanjeer”, Mr. Kapoor simply stated that: “It was one of the awards”.

However, Rishi Kapoor feels guilty of what he had done. He also said that during that time he around 20-21 years old and was a real brat those days. Also he stated that, at that point of time he had no clear vision and being a rich man’s son, he felt even richer after being an actor. He started throwing money without any care at all. Then, suddenly somebody approached him and told him that the award could be bought for Rs 30,000 and he agreed.

He isn’t sure whether it was the work of a con-man and whether the money reached the hands of the organisers.

Rishi Kapoor recently won the Best Supporting Actor for “Kapoor & Sons” at Stardust Awards, Star Screen Awards and Filmfare Awards as well.
